Crop image
Drag a box over the picture to keep exactly the part you want — freehand or locked to a ratio — and download the cropped result.
The box is the crop: drag it to move, drag a corner to resize, or use the arrow keys. Pick a ratio to lock the shape — 1:1 for avatars, 16:9 for a header.

How to crop an image
Add the image
Drop a PNG, JPG, WEBP or HEIC file on the box above; the picture appears below with a crop box over it.
Shape the crop
Drag inside the box to move it, a corner handle to resize. Choose a ratio preset (free, 1:1, 4:5, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3) to lock the shape while you drag.
Download the crop
Press Crop the image and the result appears with its new pixel size — exactly the rectangle you drew, from the image's full resolution.
Cropping without the tiny picture
A screenshot-then-crop workflow often ends in a small, re-compressed image. Here the crop is taken from the decoded original: the box you draw is measured in the picture's own pixels, the engine cuts that rectangle out at full resolution and only then encodes it. A 4000-pixel photo cropped to half keeps 2000 real pixels — no viewer rounding, no second compression pass before the crop.
The ratio presets are there because most crops have a destination: a profile picture that must be square, a video thumbnail at 16:9, a phone wallpaper at 9:16. Locking the shape while dragging means the rectangle arrives at the right proportions instead of being adjusted afterwards.
Crop image questions
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is decoded, cropped and encoded in this browser tab; nothing is sent to a server, and the tool even works offline once the page has loaded.
Can I use the keyboard instead of the mouse?
Yes. Click the picture to focus it, then move the box with the arrow keys — hold Shift for ten-pixel steps. Alt+arrows resize the box from its bottom-right corner.
Does cropping reduce the resolution?
It reduces the pixel count to the part you keep — that is the point — but the pixels inside the crop are taken from the full-resolution original, so they stay as sharp as the source.
What is the difference between the ratio presets?
Free lets the box take any shape. The presets lock width:height while you drag: 1:1 for avatars and grids, 4:5 for portrait posts, 16:9 for video and headers, 9:16 for stories and phone walls, 4:3 for classic photos.
Can I crop and shrink at the same time?
Set a maximum width or height in the options below, and the crop is scaled down on its way out. Crop first, shrink second — that is also the order the engine works in.
