How to resize an image

1

Add the images

Drop PNG, JPG, WEBP or HEIC files on the box above — up to twenty at once, each one resized with the same settings.

2

Pick how

Percentage scales both sides (50 % is half as wide and half as tall). Exact size takes a width, a height, or a box to fit inside. Maximum size shrinks only when the image is larger than the limit.

3

Download

Every result appears with its new pixel size. Download them one by one, or keep going — nothing left your device at any point.

What resizing does to a photo

Pixels are resampled: the browser's decoder gives the full-size picture, the canvas averages neighbouring pixels down to the new size, and the result is encoded again. A large downscale uses high-quality smoothing, which matters more than any setting you could pick — a 4000-pixel photo reduced to 800 pixels comes out clean and crisp, not aliased.

Enlarging is allowed when you ask for it (except in Maximum mode, which never does), but be honest about the trade: upscaling cannot invent detail, it only makes each pixel bigger. Down is where resizing earns its keep — page images, avatars, thumbnails and anything a size limit refuses.

Image resizer questions

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The resize happens on a canvas in this browser tab, from the file on your disk to the download folder. There is no server step.

What does "Keep the proportions" do?

In Exact size mode it keeps the aspect ratio: give one side and the other follows the image's own shape, give both and the image fits inside that box without distortion. Untick it to force the exact width × height, which can stretch the picture.

Will resizing make the file smaller?

Downscaling almost always does, because there are fewer pixels to store. But a 50 %-smaller PNG can still outweigh the original JPG — the format matters as much as the size. For the smallest file, resize and convert to JPG or WEBP.

Can I resize an iPhone HEIC photo?

Yes — HEIC is accepted like any other image here. Safari decodes it natively; other browsers load a bundled decoder the first time one is needed.

What is the largest size I can produce?

20000 pixels on either side, which is the ceiling browsers put on a canvas. In practice a phone or laptop runs out of memory long before that.
